The creators of HAtchling Hell are a bunch of creatives who work extremely well together. they have over the first half of 2021, become a strong team. They are passionate about their work and with the guidance of their leader, reginald Ridgard they have challenged themselves to take their work to the next level.
Meet The Team
Director - Reginald Ridgard
Reginald Ridgard, is a strong directing and writing student at AFDA Cape Town. He was born 20th of May 1995 in Kimberley and moved to Cape Town in 2008.
His goal: is to make films that nest in the minds of the viewers. He wants them thinking about his films now and again in the quiet moments like driving in the car.
Producer - Claudia Untiedt
Claudia is is a producing student at AFDA Cape Town.
She works extremely well with other people and has a high tolerance level. she is good with communication and very well organised.
Cinematographer - Mamelo Songo
Mamelo is a 3rd-year cinematography major at AFDA Cape Town. She came to Cape Town from Johannesburg to study cinematography.
Her love for cinematography began when she worked on MTVShuga as a production assistant and that's where she instantly knew that she belongs there. She left her bachelor of social sciences degree to pursue her dream and her goal is to represent women in film and continue bringing words to life using visuals.
Cinematographer - Alex Kellerman
Alex Kellerman is a third-year student at Afda Cape Town, who is studying cinematography, data management, and color grading. During his time at film school, he has taken on a range of roles in numerous student films, which has helped him develop his personal artistic expression as a creative as well as his role as a team player. Together with his peers, he hopes to create meaningful content that satisfies the needs of an intended target market.
DIT/Colorist - Fredrik Karlsson
Fredrik Karlsson , 29 -
Colorist and Digital Imaging Technician from Sweden, an exchange student from the Norweigan School - Noroff.
Fredrik has an eye for consistency, from post to delveriy.
He has a conceptual mindset to contribute to our team and his own contributions regarding the grade and aesthetics of the project.
Editor - Mathew Green
Mathew, 21 – Is a film editor who learns very fast, work seven harder and pays close attention to detail. He works well in communicative teams where ideas are openly shared, motivated and reviewed. He is very passionate about growth, team work, and projects that make people think more deeply about themselves and their lives.
MMP/Co-editor - Andries Meyer
Andries Meyer, 23 – Score Composer & Film Editor Andries Meyer was born in Durbanville, Cape Town during the year of 1998. After two years of studying in Stellenbosch he realized that he had to be part of the cinematic world as he showed up at the student cinema more than he did for lectures. Music and storytelling has always been synonymous with his character – uncovering the secrets of rhythm and harmony in the world of film is his passion.
VFX - Gino Afonso
Gino Afonso was born and raised in Johannesburg. I remember the days watching films with my grandfather and his endless collection of videotapes, transported to different lands, all with their own stories and art styles, igniting my love for film and making things. Taking things apart and making things was his speciality, whether making toys based on shows or movies he has seen to blowing stuff up with a potato cannon. Directing his creativity towards the field of design and moved to Cape Town. After graduating with BA in ideation design, he reignited his love for filmmaking and shifted towards the career of making unique worlds through visual effects. Armed with digital modelling and graphic design skills, my calling is visual effects, and I have never turned back.
Sound designer - Lucy De Wet
Lucilia-Ann de Wet, 22 – Sound Designer Lucilia Ann born in Cape Town, South Africa in the year 1998 has always been in love with storytelling. From a young age she loved to explore the creation of films and how they come together. Through her love of music and a listless gap-year of playing video games she discovered her love of sound design. The creation of an entire world through sound design is something that fascinates her and inspirers her to connect with people emotionally through sound design.
Costume,Makeup & styling -
Sarah Van Zyl
Born and raised in Cape Town, I developed my love for the arts in high school, where I took art from grade 8. My art pracs consisted mainly of installation art, one being a tent and quilt. This is where my love for costume design and set design began. I knew this is what I wanted to do! I love sewing, therefore designing costumes is a hobby. After AFDA, I would love to join the industry doing special effects makeup, and one-day design costumes of my own!

Tiana Fleming - PD According to Tiana, Production Design is all about bringing creative ideas into the physical world. Her great problem-solving skills and her inclination to always be hands-on therefore enable her ability to make the imagined reality. She knows how to make her vision clear and she values open communication with her peers. A kind, creative, and colorful individual, Tiana is an amazing asset to any crew

Keitumetsi Mamphiswana
Keitumetsi is a third year Performance student at AFDA Cape Town. She is a hard working student and always strives to do her best. She uses pre-production to find out all the information on her character and develops her character until she feels see has become the character.
Keitumetsi is great with communication and never lets you down.

Luke Stuurman
Luke Stuurman is a performance student at AFDA Cape Town.
He is extremely professional on set but also bring a lot of laughter and joy on to shooting sets. He is a brilliant actor that digs deep to get in to character.

Loyiso Mthethwa
Loyiso is a third year Performance student at AFDA Cape Town. She is very sweet and works hard on set. She will push herself to get a good shot and does not let you down.
Supporting Actress -
Warren Aine
Warren is Performance student at AFDA cape Town. She is one to keep her distance from the crowded set and all the chatter but when it's her time to be on camera she is present and focused.
STORY INSPIRATION
Hatchling Hell, is a film inspired by the environmental crisis that our world faces. As we continue to industrialize, nature suffers beyond repair. Films like Darren Aronofsky's, Mother! and David Lynch's Eraserhead have inspired the narrative and decrepid world of our story. We must all reassess the current state of the world or our dreams of a future utopia will become a dystopia.
